Saturday Detentions

Saturday Detentions:

I believe that there are good reasons for Saturday detentions and bad reasons.
A good reason I believe is if a student is continuously being disrespectful to his peers or their teacher. If it happens multiple times then yes I believe action should be taken. Yes I even beleive that if you are tardy more then 9 times to class in the same trimester then you should be given a detention for that too. Maybe having to serve that will influence your choice to be late next time.
Then there are the really silly and obnoxious reasons for giving a student a Saturday. For example, I have seen a student have their phone out on the desk not in use and screen down and a teacher walk by and take it and then had the office give her a detention. I personally don't understand what the problem is there and why the phone even bothered the instructor in the first place.
My opinion on the phone getting taken away is, as a teacher if it distracting you then yes, you should say something but if the kid really doesn't feel like paying attention to whatever you are saying then screw him, he can fail. Or you could just ask him to leave.

Nation Wide

This was the most depressing commercial I have ever seen.  Its like one of those humane society commercials where you just want to look away from the TV.  It is not your typical Superbowl commercial because they are usually funny and comical whereas this is just sad.  So i guess in a way this commercial that really stands out in my mind because it was so sad.  I think it will it will be a very successful commercial that will make nation wide a lot of money because everybody wants to protect their kids as much as possible and according to the commercial nation wide does that and nobody wants their kid to be like the one in the commercial.  That is why i believe this commercial; will be successful.

Mountain Dew Ad

I love this ad.  It's completely ridiculous.
Okay, but to analyze it. I will say that..
It's pretty funny and it will make you want to buy the product. This product has it's own website and advertising campaign so I can definitely say that this product is buzzing. I amazing that a company spends an immense amount of money on one product  that may not even be around for a long time. I believe that this product will do great because of the social media hype around it and people post there dancing and crazy videos. It's ad campaign that I predict will do well.

In the documentary "Supersize Me" I found it interesting how much fast food effects your body in a bad way.  Morgan Spurlock eating McDonald's for 30 days straight for every meal is kinda disgusting.  As the movie progresses we see Spurlock start to get tired more, get and increase in headaches, suffer through depression for a short period, and raised his cholesterol greatly.  Even though Spurlock didn't gain much weight it still effected his physical health dramatically.  Eating fast food everyday really does take a toll on you and I realized that through this documentary

I wanted to talk about the Kim Kardashian T-Mobile commercial. What she is saying is valid and it shows how T-Mobile is good and provides a service but all the commercial shows is Kim's body ("ass") in a few different outfits.
I just think it's dumb how they choose to have her on their commercials rather than a different form of a way to display that their company is a better choice for your mobile plan. I personally think that this add was not well liked, especially because most people don't like her.  I also think it's funny how next to her name it says "Famous Person" instead of an occupation. Because we all know why she is famous.

The 2015 Budweiser Superbowl commercial with the horse and the dog really has no point to the iconic all-american beer.  I feel like the commercial does not do the classic beer justice.  There are no ties to Budweiser at all in this commercial, besides a couple times you see the owner sipping on one,  it shows a dog that gets lost and finds it's way home with the horses help.  I feel like the Budweiser should have more of an American theme to the commercial.

Doritos Commercial

I chose to analyze the new Doritos commercial "Mis Spelling BEE" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08-6r7YveeQ). In the ad, there is a spelling bee competition with a boy and a girl. The winner receives $50,000 and second place gets Doritos. Both contestants want to lose because they would rather have the Doritos than the money. To ensure that she loses, the girl farts and makes the boy say the letters P and U so that he spells the word right. The marketers want to show that Doritos are more valuable than $50,000 and that people will do anything for Doritos. They also use humor to grab the attention of consumers. I predict that this advertisement will do very well.
