Deforce Movie
This movie is somewhat depressing. Growing up in Michigan, I have always known Detroit as a place where you shouldn't go past a certain point at night, and you should always have someone with you. Words that are used to describe it are dangerous or crime-filled. It is cool to be able to see in the movie that Detroit used to be a place of high-class society and a place of entertainment. It's hard to envision Detroit as that place today, so it is nice to have a visual representation of the feeling that Detroit carried years ago. Although Detroit has gone through bankruptcy, hard times, I do believe it is getting better as a whole. As long as people continue to go to the sporting events and the city gets cleaned up, and becomes an environment where people want to be, I think that it could potentially go back to the way it was before the riots took place.

As Jojo stated I too found the move to be a bit depressing. The scenes of people saying the knew someone who was shot or talked about a family member being killed will definitely put a damper on someone's mood. I believe these scenes were necessary for the audience to feel what the people of Detroit go through everyday. Guns,Drugs, the Street Life as a whole is what many young males and females in Detroit have to face. the city is of course improving from the inside out. Downtown is great and more people are moving down there to see the cultural beauty that many people forget Detroit has. I see the city coming back in a huge way and can't wait for people to start talking positively about the city we all love.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jojo and Kevin that the movie was very depressing. Detroit used to be a high class place where everybody wanted to be. now it is quite the opposite. People want to be as far from Detroit as possible because of all the drugs and violence. It's depressing to think that we were once so high up in the world and now were at the bottom. Like Jojo said Detroit is a place you don't want to be at night. I also believe the city is starting to make a comeback because downtown Detroit seems to be having a bit of a revival.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of you. It was depressing especially when they said it was a miracle if you lived to the age of 30. 30 is being old and an accomplishment. But to us in the suburbs 30 is young and in the prime stages of your life.
ReplyDeleteI hope to see Detroit be the beautiful Utopian place it used to be. Where people live and the population is way up and the inner city is cleaned and kept up the way it should be.
I also agree with all of you. It was pretty sad seeing our Detroit go from one of the most prosperous cities in America to a bankrupt crime filled concrete jungle. Where now we don't have enough money to chop down overgrown trees, and clean up the streets. I want to see Detroit go back to how it was in the 1950's. With plenty of jobs open, nice homes and not as much crime, but that takes time and we are slowly building up revenue and making Detroit a better place.
