Deforce

I found the movie " Deforce" very interesting. Prior to watching the movie i had no idea how Detroit went from being one of Americas greatest cities to how it is today. It seems like the people of Detroit destroyed it themselves. and nobody else had anything to do with it.  The people of Detroit pushed people out of the city with violence.  This meant the city had to raise taxes for fewer people because a lot of people left and the city didn't have enough money coming in.  Then there was corruption among the cities government officials.  Even though the city had no money to spare officials still took money from the city.  This happened in the 80s and then again more recently with Kwame Kilpatrick. This is why the city of Detroit destroyed itself and nobody else had anything to do with it.

  1. I agree with you Nathan. I think that Detroit ruined itself. Once the riots hit, everybody got the hell out. Since then the city has never been the same. Almost all of the white race moved out and some of the black race as well. The economy suffered and the population dipped below a million which was a surprise because of how big the city is. And as you said the cities officials were stealing money from the city to make it worse.

  2. I found the movie interesting as well. The way Detroit was in the past during WWII was very interesting with all the manufacturing and multi-level assembly lines, but it was sad to see Detroit go from a promising city to a bankrupt city.
